Commute by ebike for Global Bike to Work day
To mark today’s Strava Global Bike to Work Day Challenge, people all over the world are encouraged to commute on a bike in a bid to bring the global community of cycling commuters together on a single day. Using hashtag #CommutesCount on other social media channels will show your support of better cycling and pedestrian infrastructure around the world.
We are hoping that the challenge will encourage people to commute on ebikes as an alternative to cars and buses. Already, the number of ebike commuters is growing, with green transport initiatives such as the government’s ‘Cycle to Work Scheme’ leading over 40,000 people to buy bikes over recent years.
The great thing about commuting on an ebike is that it is both healthy and handy; it allows for gentle exercise while not requiring you to get all hot and disheveled. Just turning the pedals will keep your joints mobile and burn more calories than sitting on a bus. It will save you time as you pass by rush hour traffic, taking full advantage of cycle routes and off road paths. It consumes minimum energy and does not emit fumes, making it the most eco-friendly method of travel.
