Takeover Radio’s Mike Watson test rides an electric bike
To mark this year’s ‘National Cycle to Work Day, DJ Mike Watson from Leicester’s Takeover Radio came along to Ebike Centres to see what all the fuss was about.
Although he was already a cyclist Mike had never tried an electric bike before. So after a short explanation of the different types of electric bike and how they worked there was nothing else for it – a test ride!!!
Taking a test ride is an important part of choosing an electric bike. There are so many drive systems, shapes and sizes that there is no better way of deciding which is the best for you than to get on a few and see which suits you the most. And it’s much more fun than looking at a picture and scrolling through pages of ‘specs’!
Test rides are a central part of Ebike Centres’ way of doing things. No way would they push you into a little car park behind the shop and expect you to cycle around in a circle. No way! Every customer is personally guided around a realistic but quiet half mile route in Leicester city centre; a mixture of gentle hills, flat roads and steep hills. Try as many bikes as you like until you have found the ebike that is perfect for you.
After about half an hour of trying out some of the bikes he was torn between two; the FreeGo Hawk and Raleigh Velo XC. Decisions, decisions… which did Mike choose?
