Trainee or apprentice? Get an electric bike for only £10 per month!
You’ve taken those first steps to a great future. As a trainee or apprentice you learn new skills and get paid at the same time – but we know it can sometimes be hard to make ends meet. Transport can be expensive, especially if you have to pay bus fares and the routes don’t connect well.

Did you know that a trainee or apprentice living or working in Leicester can rent an electric bike for only £10 a month? And that includes a helmet and lock. All you have to do is charge it up every now and again, and at a penny for 5 miles that won’t exactly break the bank!
Other employees, of any age, are also welcome to apply – especially if their journey to work is difficult. For example, if you work night shifts when there are no buses or if you have to take more than one bus to get to work.
The scheme is run by Leicester City Council and is called ‘Wheels 2 Work’. It’s funded by the government, which is why it’s so cheap, and you can rent the bike for 6 months (longer if they don’t need it for someone else).
Nothing else is needed – no driving license, MOT, road tax or insurance. As long as you can ride a bicycle you can ride an electric bike – and arrive at work fresh, relaxed and on time!
